Favorite Directors of the 1910s

A look back at my favorite directors from the beginning of serious film making.

Charles Chaplin

Certainly the best thing to come out of this decade. A true legend was born, and he dressed up as a bum.

D.W. Griffith

His films were stronger and longer and while most of the early directors went broke D.W. managed to stay ahead.

Georges Méliès

Sadly went broke as people lost interest and stopped making films in 1913. His absence was deeply felt throughout the rest of the decade.

Richard Oswald

His work on ‘Anders als die Andern’ was both moving and extremely courageous, I have yet to see his other work but i’m sure it’s fantastic.
